She received her Master’s in Architecture at the University of California, Los Angeles and her Bachelor’s in Urban Studies from the New School University in New York City. After graduation, she lived in Europe for several years and began her tenure as an interior designer and professional author. As the Architecture Editor of the international publishing house Gestalten, Sofia has published over a dozen titles on architecture, design, and culture including Rock the Shack and Hide and Seek. She then delved into the world of design education, joining the faculty of the USC School of Architecture and later becoming the Creative Director of MADWORKSHOP. Her efforts on emergency stabilization housing won a Fast Company World Changing Ideas Award and culminated in the book Give Me Shelter.
